The Federal Reserve’s 2026 FOMC calendar lists a meeting on Oct. 27–28. The columns for a statement, a press conference and minutes are still empty on that row. December’s meeting, on Dec. 8–9, carries the asterisk the Fed uses for a meeting associated with a Summary of Economic Projections. The October dates do not.

The Board’s October 2026 calendar lists the same two-day meeting, with the policy entry on the 28th at 2:00 p.m., and a press conference at 2:30 p.m. that day. That calendar page says it was last updated on June 24, 2025. The meeting dates also appear on the FOMC calendar page above. This article is not a prediction of the decision. The committee has not published a statement for this meeting.

The last decision is the one from Sept. 16. In a statement approved 12–0, the committee said it had raised the target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter of a percentage point, to 3-3/4 to 4 percent, “in support of the Federal Reserve’s dual mandate,” and that it is continuing a policy of ample reserves, according to the FOMC statement.

The committee said economic activity is expanding at a solid pace. It said uncertainty remains elevated, owing in part to geopolitical developments, while domestic spending has been resilient, productivity growth is strong, and capital investment is robust. Job gains have kept pace with the workforce, and the unemployment rate has changed little, the statement said.

“Inflation remains elevated,” the committee said. It said the Sept. 16 action would support a timelier return to its 2 percent goal, and that it “will deliver price stability.” The September meeting, held on Sept. 15–16, was one of the meetings tied to a Summary of Economic Projections. Minutes of that meeting were released on Oct. 7, the calendar notes.

The rate range in force going into this week’s meeting is the one set on Sept. 16, unless the Fed has published a later change that is not on these pages. Nothing here is a view on where the committee should set the rate, or on where bond prices should trade.
